37. Sayings of Jesus.
Jesus once again used
his stay in Jerusalem to invite the misled people into the kingdom of
God through beautiful teachings. Among other things he said:
“My teaching is not mine, but his that sent me. If anyone wants to do
his will, he will find out whether this teaching is from God or whether
I speak from myself. If you continue in my teaching, you are my true
disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.
Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin.”
“I am a good shepherd; a good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep
- I know my own and am known to my own. - My sheep hear my voice, and
they follow me, and I give them eternal life, and no one will snatch
them out of my hand. The Father who has given them to me is greater than
all, and no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the
Father are one.”
But when he said, “I and the Father are one,” the Jews picked up stones
and wanted to stone him. For the number of his enemies and their
wickedness was increasing. But the Pharisees and the priests hated him
because he publicly punished their vices with words and their hypocrisy
could no longer stand. But many of the people clung to him, for they
believed that he was the Son of God and that he would release Israel.
