A song in honour, who would deny it? Does not the little animal sing in bush and nest? the angel in the starry glow? A free and joyful courage, a healthy and cheerful blood is above money and goods. A drink in honour, who will deny it? Does not the little flower drink its morning dew? Doesn't the Mayor drink his little pint too? And whoever works on a working day the juice of the vine on Sunday brings new strength. A kiss in honour, who would deny it? Doesn't the little flower kiss its little sister, and the little star kisses its little neighbour? In honour I have said, and in the innocencet escort, with discipline and modesty. A joyful little hour, is it not a little find? Now we have it and now we are here; a time will come when things will be differently. It all lasts a short time, the cemetery is not far away. Who knows who lies there soon? When the bells ring, who will help us all? O God give us a gentle death! a clear conscience give us God, when the sun laughs in the sky when everything flashes and crackles, and in the final night! |

Vogt = Bürgermeister = Mayor
